Local Tennessee Firm Donates Voice Command Software for Use by Teachers
MILLINGTON, TN, January 05, 2011 /Software PR News/ -- Unistar-Sparco Computers, Inc. announced today that they have donated forty (40) Dragon Naturally Speaking Software programs to the Colonial Hearing, Speech, and Vision Center which provides services to Memphis City Schools students with visual impairments.
The Dragon software systems have advanced capabilities that allow users to operate computers with their voice. The goal is that with the installation of these programs at the Colonial Hearing, Speech, and Vision Center, the teachers will be able to help special needs children to excel in the face of adversity.
The software's ability to integrate with multiple Microsoft applications like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint makes using a computer possible for anyone with visual impairment through voice commands. Typical functions such as "Delete line," "Copy that," "Make that red," or "Open Microsoft Word," are valid commands with the Dragon software. The software is easy to use and adaptive to the user's voice and has an accuracy rating of 99% all while entering text at speeds up to 160 words per minute which is more than three times faster than an average person can type.
